Things are settling down now. Dust are all over from the battle Dreamhost had with their servers yesterday and I feel better now. And for all I care, my blog took a nice bump … a really huge bump in traffic and visitors. Nice….

  1. Congrats :)

Being in WordPress’ list of fastest growing blogs helps, too.

  2. Thanks for pointing that out… I did not even notice that on my Dashboard…

  3. do you know why the dreamhost problems would cause your rails install to fail? (as opposed to just having your site down).

I am having the same problem, STILL, and am very confused why my other non-rails sites on DH work, but my rails site is down.

    any opinion?

  4. My rails install wasn’t failing, its the entire site was down, in fail sometimes it would not even come back with a Rail Application Error.

I wrote a post about setting up Rails on Dreamhost awhile back, you might want to check it out.

  5. you said in another post that the whole thing started with you getting a rails application error. That is different than the site being down. So my questions was, do you know what might have happened to cause the application error?

At around this same time my site started getting a rails application error. I hadn’t changed anything for months.

  6. Was your site on one of the server meltdowns last week? one thing thats weird was, mine was on one filer that had problems and when they got back up, my site was still down and then I went in to my rails config and found out that the config/environment.rb was not the same, it had the production line commented out…. so that’s why it was not working. and like what you were saying, I had not change anything at all…so you might want to check that.
