Simplebucket: Simple, Ad-Free Image Hosting

September 15, 2007 at 9:40 pm | Posted in gizmoojo | Leave a comment

Simplebucket was made entirely using Ruby on Rails–apparently as part of a 48-hour challenge. It’s remarkably well polished for being put together so quickly, and offers a number of features that make it more attractive than even some paid services or other image-hosting sites that plaster your photos with banners and text-ads.

GoogleTV is really coming soon!

June 27, 2007 at 6:08 pm | Posted in google tv | 2 Comments

A while back, there were rumors and videos (that was put to rest as an elaborate hoax) signaling that Google is possibly working on a “TV” type product. Well, it appears that they are indeed getting their prep work and staffing up on TV ad sales and account managers for a TV type product. Here’s some really interesting positions that really shows that Google is indeed working on such a product and it’s even called “Google TV” in some of the job listings.

Digg running out of ADs buyer or Google ADs running whack?

February 28, 2007 at 11:00 pm | Posted in adwords, digg | Leave a comment

Have you noticed that advertisements that running of Digg is of little variations? I keep seeing the same ADs over and over again. But this time, it got worse. The ADs running on Digg is for Diggnation? ??? If Digg is running out of advertising buyers because Digg visitors do not click on ADs (it’s an typical trait of a Digg user.) and buyers are not getting the effectiveness out of the AD then yes, Digg could possibly be running low on advertising buyers and revenue. So if they are running low on advertisement buyers, are they just back-filling with advertisment of Diggnation?

In another case, I think Google’s adwords might have gone whacky and place Diggnation adwords ads that Kevin bought and place them on Digg. In anyway it all sounds bad to me.

Here’s one of Digg’s main page

Here’s one with one of the top stories – notice all advertising slots are filled with Diggnation?????

Want a piece of Google/Youtube? Here’s how.

November 4, 2006 at 12:15 am | Posted in Acquisitions, google, youtube | 1 Comment

I always thought that Google’s acquisition of Youtube was not really well thought out by the hands in charge. One big thing that they had neglected is the potential amount of lawsuits that they see coming. I believe they underestimated this fact this alot. Over at Mashable, Pete posted that “Google talks in frantic mode and paying huge amount of money to Media company for Youtube“. That is just the beginning of this nightmare for Google.

Then we have others who are hungry and just wants a piece of the pie for themselves. The German soccer team Bayern Munich threatened to sue over YouTube’s use of fan footage, and today the press wires are reporting that the English Premier League is also unhappy. And then there is Utube, the tubing company that operates a corporate site at utube.com sueing Google for expenses incur because of the amount of traffic they got from visitors who were looking for youtube.com but ended up at utube.com.

So as I have pointed out, this is only the beginning. And here’s why, if ever any of these lawsuits would go in favor against Google, look for others to immediately jump onto the bandwagon. I bet you that there are probably hundreds of other companies just lurking in the background and if ever Google lose a single one of the cases against them. We’ll see more lawsuits coming their way.

So say now, I put some video of gadget and gizmos reviews on Gizmoojo.com and if someone (or even worse, I had someone) post videos of these reviews onto Youtube. That in theory is an infringement of my copyrights. So my claim against Google/Youtube would easily be as valid as the rest since Youtube hosted my video and thus causing the loss of advertising revenue/traffic that Gizmoojo could “potentially be losing”. So, yes, Google made a bad decision for acquiring Youtube, and they’re in for a  hell of a ride.

Gizmoojo is CSSRebooted and many great things to come.

The rumored Google Rs

October 5, 2006 at 8:03 pm | Posted in gizmoojo, google rs, web .0, Web 2.0, web2.0 | 1 Comment

This morning, some mysterious Google screenshots – including what appears to be a mock-up for a Google Web Office product, called Google RS were posted on Google groups for Google reader. The screenshots were at this location, but have since been taken down.

So I managed to save them just before they were taken down. So from these screenshots, Google Rs actually looked very cool. If it was materialized, we can see some stir-ups to the web 2.0 startups over might just be overshadow by Google. Take Kiko for example. Google integration of calender into Gmail practically took their growth out. So if Google Rs is really released, we should see quite a few smaller web 2.0 startups dropping into the dead bucket. (Digg it)

September 30, 2006 at 2:58 am | Posted in adgent, gizmoojo, railsplayground, Web 2.0, web2.0, widgetbox | 1 Comment

Three great news that I like to let the community know,

First of all, I just released ver 2.0 of Gizmoojo Adgent on WidgetBox.com. So basically, you can get the Adgent by subscribing to the Gizmoojo Adgent widget here at widgetbox.com. The Gizmoojo adgent at widgetbox is a first and simple way to get the adgent going without doing any searches for products you want to advertise. Simply enter the keywords you are interested in, choose the department, set the ad rotation timer (now customizable from 3-6 secs), enter your Amazon Associate ID and VIOLA, you got a Gizmoojo Adgent widget all setup. Ain’t that cool! And guess what? Gizmoojo Adgent is most subscribed widget for the Money makers category!

And the second great news we have to share is, YES!, we are almost done with our migration of our server over to the greatest Railsplayground. And now Gizmoojo.com is super fast and all thanks to the great people at Railsplayground and the Mongrel gang. Don’t forget to mention Gizmoojo.com as your referral if you happen to sign up with them! Now Gizmoojo.com is much much speedier!

Third, we are working on version 0.6 of Gizmoojo.com and we have something great cooking.. so much watch for more to come.
